#IMMORTALS OF MELUHA FILM MOVIE#
I think the book lends itself beautifully for celluloid and we are very excited to promote Amish's book effectively. With Karan Johar picking the rights to make a movie out of The Immortals of Meluha, writing the book and re-living the reading experience seemed an apt next step. Says Karan, "I was blown away with the world of Meluha and was totally engrossed in the book. I believe that my book is in very safe hands with Karan and his team." And that is what I saw in Dharma Productions towards "The Immortals of Meluha". Says an elated Amish, "I believe that my books are successful as I am true believer in Lord Shiva's blessings. If one wants to tell His story, it can only be done with intense passion and commitment. Since it deals with religion and mythology he will make sure that the subject will be treated with sensitivity. Karan will look into finer details, apart from the screenplay. Says an insider, "Karan credits the buying to the CEO of Dharma Productions, Apurva Mehta, who had been negotiating for the book rights for months." The emotional content and the love story between Shiva and Parvati are very strong elements in the novel. Producers from Hollywood and Bollywood were vying for the film rights, after he launched his second book in the Shiva Trilogy, "The Secret of the Nagas". The book had attracted grabbed a lot of media attention since Amish announced he was on the lookout for a producer to adapt his book. In the books, Amish Tripathi told the story of Lord Shiva as a normal person who fought a lot to be with his family. Karan Johar's 'Dharma Productions' has acquired the film rights of Amish Tripathi's top- seller book, "The Immortals of Meluha". Immortals of Meluha and the two subsequent books after that- The Secret of Nagas and The Oath of the Vayuputras, are all about Lord Shiva’s life and how he became the biggest warrior of the land. Karan Johar had always shown a keen interest to adapt Amish Tripathi's best selling book for the big screen.
